Yah!!! When in doubt, call them at HG. Technology only seems to work to a point, then an old school phone call saves the day. Does anyone other than me think that technology acts counterproductive to our human need to talk directly to someone? My biggest pet peeve is drive throughs. Most companies bust their butts to serve the lazy customer who can't bothe to get off his ass to come in to their place of business and ignores those that do. Perplexed by that one.

Big Time, Elysian & Pike in Seattle. I've also heard that Freemont is good, but it opened since my last visit. If you get near Mt. Hood then visit Walking Man. Visit Silver City (Silverdale) if you get across the Sound or if you go up the 5, then stop at the Fishbowl (home of Fish Tale Ale) in Olympia. Also look for Diamond Knot IPA on draught. Enjoy the beer & the scenery!

I have posted the application for the ABLE homebrewer's license. Click on the link in the main menu on the home page. You must have the free Acrobat Reader. After you open the file you can complete and print the form from your computer. Then you must have it notarized and mail it to ABLE. Instructions are on the form.

I'm confused. I thought it was already legal for anyone to homebrew up to 100 gallons per year for personal consumption. Is this just to increase that ceiling to 200 gallons?

Technically, it is not legal until late August when the bill becomes law, as MostlyMissles said. However, a license or permit is required by the nanny state to make them feel more in control. The permit will be granted to any homebrewer who completes the application and who is not a convicted felon, at no cost. The 200 gallon figure is based on the typical family which is one man and his wife, being legally allowed to brew 100 gallons per adult which equals 200 gallons per year of wine or beer by simple fermentation.

a word of warning, this also happened in rocketry with the BATF wanting us to get a no cost user permit at first, then they found out how amny applied and 2 years later made it fee based to get more money

no idea if the state will do this, but they will have the numbers to look at

I currently have the Wine/Cider Permit that was issued in Jan this year, expiers for in 01/2011. Does this permit cover beer once the new law is passed or do I need a new permit?

I'm not sure if I want to apply for one of these permits. I've never had one, and no one has ever asked me to present one either. What the government can give, it can also take away, or tax!

Gene...No debate necessary. You could always get the permit so that all my hard work for a couple of years wasn't in vain so that you're walking on the right side of the law. Many will choose to brew without a permit, and they can do as they choose - it's a free country, right? The chance of ABLE showing up at your door after legalization on August 26th is about the same as before the Governor signed the Bill. The permit has been around for a long time, so I don't quite see the BATF reference made earlier as applicable in this case. OK is not likely to increase the number of ABLE agents from the current 25 to anything that would be a real enforcement arm. BREW!!!

Trail Boss, I do appreciate all your efforts towards making brewing legal in OK, but I am rather curious what the permit is in place to accomplish. It has always been legal by federal statute, yet not recognized by state authorities. Now, when it is to be "legal" in our state, they want you to register like a child molester for what reason? We all are just so happy the law is changed, but no one has adequately explained, to my own satisfaction, why I might be inclined to register as a beer offender.

AM - Beer offender? Too funny. I can't answer for State authorities, regarding the whole permit thing. It's been in the books for as long as the Statute has been around. The last time anyone tackled the legalization effort, they tried to get rid of the permit - then called a license and for many reasons, the Bill went to the Judiciary Committee to die a quick and horrible death - not sure why, but the fact that Senator Gene Stipe was involved, that may answer the question, since he was just found to be one of the most corrupt politicians of his day when he introduced the Bill.

My goal was to legalize homebrewed beer for the masses. If you don't want your name on the beer offender list that's your prerogative. I ain't callin ABLE to come roust you out, dude. Do as your conscience guides you brew brother. BREW!!!
